Anju Dodiya • Born in 1964, Mumbai, Anju Dodiya graduated with a Diploma in fine Arts from Sir J.J School of Art, Mumbai in 1986. She is considered among the most brilliant contemporary artists in the country. Although she largely works in her favored medium of watercolour, but is equally accomplished with acrylics and canvas as well. Her works are an amalgam of stories which are fictional yet extremely real. She immaculately weaves tales of sacrifice, anxiety, violence in her art form. • Her solo shows include ‘Necklace of Echoes’, Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi, 2010; ‘All Night I shall Gallop’, Bodhi Art, Singapore, Mumbai, New York, 2008; ‘The Throne of Frost’ Bodhi Art, Mumbai, 2007; ‘Recent works by Anju Dodiya’, Bose Pacia, New York, 2006; ‘The Cloud Hunt’, Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi, 2005. ‘The Cloud Hunt’, Vadehra art Gallery, New Delhi, 2005; Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi, 1999, Gallery Chemould, Mumbai, 1991 • The artist has been honored and awarded with: the Zee Astitva Award, by Archana trust Suburban with Zee TV, 2007; the Indo-American Society’s ‘Young Achiever Award’ in 2001; the Harmony award by Reliance Industries, Mumbai, 1999 and she was also nominated twice for the Sotheby’s prize in 1989-2000 respectively. • Anju had her work ‘ Necklace of Echoes’ published by Vadehra Art Gallery with essays by Nancy Adjania. • She currently lives and works in Mumbai.
