SHASHI K PAUL 

A multifaceted artist in whom, the love and skill of sculpture are inherent. He has been on the Delhi art scene for more than a decade. Shashi is comfortable working with diverse mediums as installation, sculptures and murals. Born in a small town of Deoghar, Jharkhand, he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Deoghar College, Jharkhand. He obtained diploma in Art Appreciation from National Museum, New Delhi.
The human body holds an endless fascination for him and he pursues his quest for dynamic figure tirelessly using linear structure and quick chiseled work. The man-woman relationship, in particular, with all its attendant pain and joy, is a constant source of inspiration to Shashi.
His compositions are fusion of fragility and strength, an oxymoron it may seem, but in case of Shashi’s sculptures, true. Study lines, sharp blends which turn without warning, a sense of freedom and space describe his creations. Despite complexity of his compositions, the figures are ingeniously balanced, reflecting the joy and delight that personifies the artist himself.
Most of his work revolves around the themes related to human relations, daily life, the playfulness of childhood, freedom, music, celebration, and connection with the natural environment. He always tries to portray the joy and delight that love brings with it. There could be negativities in one’s life; however, he chooses to focus on the positive aspects.      
The artist’s works have been displayed in several prominent galleries in India and has participated in various solo and group shows, besides being a part of the “INDIA ART FAIR” New Delhi from 2016 to 2018. Shashi’s works are in prominent collections in India and abroad. His work appreciated by art critics and eminent artists like Late Sri Kesav Malik, Late Sri Ram V. Sutar, Sri Sakti Burman and Maite Delteil. The artist lives and works in New Delhi.
