 Essere
Italian for to‑be serves as the conceptual cornerstone of this
exhibition, articulating a quiet but insistent inquiry into
presence, identity, and transformation. Rooted in the classical
tradition yet gesturing toward the contemporary, this body of
work explores states of being through a recurring vocabulary
of equine forms and portraiture.
The horse, long regarded as a symbol of power, freedom, and
spirit, becomes here a conduit for more intimate concerns꞉
instinct, memory, and the embodied self. Each sculpture
resists fixed narrative; instead, it invites contemplation of
interiority and movement, of what it means to be, rather than
simply to appear. The portraits, in parallel, are less
representations than revelations. They offer glimpses of
inward states such as poise, solitude, resilience, rendered in
line and volume.
Together, these works do not propose answers, but rather
dwell in the tensions of becoming. Between stillness and
motion, strength and surrender, classical form and personal
mythology, Essere traces the shifting contours of existence. In
doing so, it offers a sculptural meditation on the ongoing,
often unspoken, process of selfhood.
